GigaCore 10t or 20t: a question of connections
The choice between the GigaCore 10t PoE++ and the GigaCore 20t PoE++ is rarely about bandwidth. It is about how many devices will actually connect to the switch — almost always more than originally planned.
Count everything: the main console, backup console, every node, every access point, the visualization computer and the front-of-house connection. Add spare capacity for equipment introduced during load-in.
The practical benefit of PoE++ is often overlooked: nodes and access points do not need a separate power outlet. On a truss or at a remote position, this can save considerable work. The number of universes depends on the nodes, such as the LumiNode 12.
For permanent installations and compact racks, the GigaCore 10i is another option. It also powers connected access points, nodes and cameras via PoE.
