When fiber really makes sense
Copper is convenient until the run becomes too long. That is when fiber comes into play, along with several components that must work together.
opticalCON QUAD 100 m is a typical choice for the front-of-house-to-stage link. For harsher conditions, armored fiber is a more robust option: single-mode for longer runs or multi-mode for shorter runs.
You also need matching SFP modules: SFP single-mode or SFP multi-mode, 1 Gbit or 10 Gbit, depending on the cable and requirements. This is a frequent source of problems during load-in: the cable and transceivers must be compatible.
