How many universes does your rig need?
Between the console and the fixtures lies the part nobody discusses until it stops working: output distribution. Art-Net and sACN are network protocols, but the final connection to many fixtures is still a DMX cable.
For a stage or remote positions, the LumiNode 4 provides four universes. The LumiNode 12 covers twelve and can also merge and convert signals — useful when two sources need to control the same fixtures.
The LumiCore 64 is a central processor for large lighting networks. Productions that need one generally already know why.
For grandMA3 software running on a computer, onPC Nodes are the alternative: the onPC 2Port Node 2K with 2,048 parameters, or the onPC 4Port Node 4K with 4,096.
Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one. A LumiSplit 2.10 distributes conventional DMX without configuring a network. For a modest rig in a permanent venue, this can be the more straightforward approach.
